COVID-19 pandemic: Unemployment rises for fifth straight month in Europe

Unemployment figures in Europe rose for the fifth consecutive month in a row in August reaching 8.1 per cent due to the coronavirus pandemic. These figures are expected to increase further as government intervention is not likely to keep many businesses afloat. The number of people out of work rose to 13.2 million in the 19 countries that use the Euro as a currency.
