Fox News declines to air ad about Jan. 6 protest at the Capitol

Fox News declined to broadcast an ad Sunday about the violence that law-enforcement faced as they tried to stop rioting during protests at the Capitol. ’We couldn’t have fathomed in our wildest imaginations that even a Fox News would reject an ad that simply condemns the insurrection,’ said the ads creator, adding ’What Fox has really become is a fascist echo chamber gatekeeper for their base,’.

So. Fox doesn't have to air it. “What Fox has really become is a fascist echo chamber gatekeeper for their base.” I wish, a lot of the problems the US has would be solved if there were as many fascists as you libtards like to claim there are. Please quit being so illiterate.

Is the left going to even ADMIT that antifa exists and that they've engaged in violence and insurrection for the last 3 years, let alone run ads about them? No? Then stop with the double standard.

For one thing it was not an insurrection, if it was it was a piss poor attemptthat at sn insurrection ever. Two they don't have to cover it if they don't want to.

What happened was more a riot than a serious insurrection because an insurrection needs some sort of coherent plan.

Regardless of the opinion of what happened in Jan 6, this was clearly a setup. Pretending they are shocked that fox news didn't air the ad and calling them fascists for it seems more like the goal than the ad they knew they would never air.

Crazy how many people watch Fox and believe they are these “free thinkers”. One of the worst things to happen on our soil. Not because of life or death but an actual threat to democracy. A lot those people are Qanon and white supremists that watch Fox News every day. Fox News is the propaganda machine of America.

Ok? What's that saying that people use to justify censorship? Something about privatized business... I don't support any MSM outlet btw. They are just one source of information out of many.

As a Democrat, I would like law and order to be held up and taken seriously by both parties. Unfortunately republicans can simply pick and choose what law and order they want held up

There is some potential critique to be had here of Fox News, but most of it is largely being levied by liars and hypocrites. This was a blatantly partisan ad that contained violence and ended with the statement 'The GOP Betrayed America', and Fox News' response is certainly more low key compared to CNN, among others, who proudly stated their refusal to run Republican/Trump ads during the 2020 election on numerous occasions.

I'm getting really tired of democrats trying to pretend that jan 6th was this big event. It wasn't. It was a couple hundred idiots trespassing and taking selfies in restricted areas. Along with them were a few dozen morons being violent. There is a reason that almost all of the people arrested for the protest the most they've been able to charge them with is trespassing. For all the talk of the violence not a single officer had to go to the emergency room and the ONLY person that died was one of the protesters who was shot in the throat through a door. When the left wants to address their material support for the terrorist organizations blm and antifa, then we can talk rationally about condemning "both sides". Until then I'm going to point to the over 40 murders, hundreds of rapes and assaults, and over 3 BILLION dollars in property crime done by nlm and antifa over just 6 months of continuous rioting in 2020 that was supported and cheered on by the democrats.

Of course bcs it makes their side look absolutely terroristic which they are or at least a good few dozen. They just don't want to show that they ARE INDEED THE PARTY OF DOMESTIC TERRORISTS.

Um. So? There’s a lot of groups that won’t air gross police violence against or inhumane, mechanical treatment of citizens or blatantly evil legislature that favors corporate interests over the citizenship. These things matter much more and are routinely ignored by ALL major news groups. I guess what I’m saying is - This isn’t NEWS.

“ Ben Meiselas, one of the co-founders of MeidasTouch, the liberal Political Action Committee that created the 60-second ad. “What Fox has really become is a fascist echo chamber gatekeeper for their base.” So you are mad at FOX because they would not play your 60 second left wing propaganda piece. Because of that, you call THEM an “echo chamber”. ...kaaaay... Is water wet on your planet?

The “insurrection”... what they fail to admit is the peaceful crowd that was out there that day in support of trump were incited by leftist terrorists looking to create havoc and chaos. This is documented with video evidence. It’s no different than what would happen if someone began screaming “fire!” in a crowded theater. It only takes an few people to set off a crowd. But, these leftists will continue to outright lie and virtue signal because doing so fits their narrative. Meanwhile, they’ll continue to ignore the terrorism caused by their own groups, like antifa and blm, because the actions of those groups fits their narrative. Nothing moves goalposts like a radical leftist.

Insurrection is a strong, and incorrect, word to use for what happened. The public is supposed to have access to government whenever Congress is in session. We have the right to know what our government is actually doing, not just what they put on TV. That they were prevented is the crime. Choosing not to play an ad that wants to criminalize citizenry for demanding access to "secret government" proceedings is a legitimate affirmation of the rights of citizens over their government. Consider that the main figure was a guy wearing horns and body paint, does anyone seriously think this was an attempt to overthrow the government--without guns? The main violence that day was the killing of a citizen and former soldier by Capitol police. Here is what the Capitol website says about access: "The Senate and House Galleries are open to visitors whenever either legislative body is in session ...." The Constitutionality of preventing access should be the question asked. Why did media not call rioters, brick throwers, and arsonists "insurrectionists" when they hijacked peaceful protests last summer? The desire to call this an insurrection is purely political.
