Swiss city of Geneva is set to introduce a minimum wage of 23 Swiss francs ($25) an hour, equal to roughly $4,100 a month for a 40-hour working week. Nearly two-thirds of the canton of Geneva on Sunday voted in favor of introducing the minimum wage. The measure comes after the city, whose economy depends on business visitors and tourism, has been hit particularly hard by the Covid-19 epidemic.
This is smelling a lot like UBI. Every single time it's been implemented, it has failed. Interesting to see if they will revert away from it once tourism starts up again.
They are hit hard economically by lack of tourism, so the answer is manditory wage increase? Are they TRYING to tank their economy through inflation?
