Amnesty halts work in India citing government ’witch-hunt’

Amnesty has halted its work in India and laid off staff, after the govt. froze its bank accounts. This comes after the group published reports critical of the Govt.’s human rights record. Amnesty called this an ’incessant witch-hunt’ of human rights groups by the Narendra Modi Govt. The reports spoke of rights violations during Delhi riots, and restrictions on civil liberties in Jammu and Kashmir.

Denying citizenship to illegal aliens is not a human rights violation. If you invade, or trespass upon, another's land, then you are the one in the wrong. The owner of that land has every right to ask you to leave, or use force if you refuse to leave. In the case of a sovereign nation, they also have the right to arrest you and charge you for your crimes.

This is suppression of freedom of speech whether you agree with their statements or not. This is placing India further into dangerous territory, and moving them further away from the founding principles of modern India.
