US scientist says he overstated Wuhan lab-leak ’smoking gun’

Nobel prize-winning US biologist David Baltimore, who has been widely quoted describing a ’smoking gun’ to support the thesis that Covid-19 was genetically modified and escaped from a Wuhan lab, has said he overstated the case. ’I should have softened the phrase ’smoking gun’ because I don’t believe that it proves the origin of the furin cleavage site but it does sound that way,’ he said.

These stories need to be separated and disambigutized. Dr Levin =/= Dr Baltimore. Both are hyperbaric hit pieces trying to make small and reasonable shifts in data-based opinions seem like utter retractions, but the similarities stop there. All this proves is that there are ample supplies of hack writers trying to make a name for themselves by bagging a hostile academic' career.

Did not walk back a thing. The data is evolving and the lab leak, backbone, cleavage and the common none naturally arising code sequence used in gene editing all on the table with no zoonotic path to the CCP virus. Lawsuits income "Reporters" and their media outlets need to lawyer up as joint venture for mass murder is a thing regardless if you follow the Walter Duranty school of journalism.

With the probability of war between the US and China he likely just doesn't want to be in the history books as one of the Sparks
