Google must negotiate with French publishers to pay for news, court rules

A Paris court has rejected Google’s appeal against an order by France’s competition watchdog to negotiate with publishers for using snippets of their news. The court ordered Google to begin talks with French publishers about paying to use their content under the European Union’s ’neighboring right,’ which allows publishers to take a fee from online platforms that show snippets of their content.
