Microsoft will allow many of its employees to permanently work from home, even after the company opens its U.S. offices again. The new guidelines allow all Microsoft employees to work remotely less than 50% of the time. Employees can also request approval from their managers to work remotely full time, or even move to a new location, with salaries adjusted based on geography.
If Mirlcrosoft is going to take this position, maybe they should require that everyone who chooses to work from home full time to move to the geographic location where they pay the least amount in salary. Otherwise they are opening themselves up to shareholder lawsuits for not maximizing profits.

Good. The pandemic was a great way to show that the office space vibe wasn't needed much longer. It proved that work can be done from home responsibly, effectively, and productively. I'm not surprised that Microsoft went this route when Twitter allowed full time remote work. This allows many tech indusrry workers to move out of the bay and buy bigger homes in the Central Valley and northern end of California, boosting the prices of the homes and taxes for the communities they reside in.
