Congressional Gold Medal vote passes House as 21 Republicans vote no

On Tuesday, the House passed legislation to award one of the highest civilian honors to police officers who responded during the Capitol insurrection. While the legislation received massive bipartisan support from 406 lawmakers, 21 House Republicans voted against awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to police officers. Reps. Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene were among the 21.

So now we are giving gold medals for opening doors and shooting unarmed women in the face?

Wait a minute, so now Democrats LIKE police officers again? We need some kind of a playbook or something to keep up with the wishy-washy mood of the Democrats on the whole law enforcement thing.

There was no insurrection. There is no evidence that exists to define what happened January 6th as an insurrection. They're lucky it wasn't.

Lame. The people saw what happened. The police either did nothing or did the exact wrong thing in the capital protest. Shooting unarmed civilians shouldn't get you awards.🤷🏾‍♂️

The Communists in the USSR used to hand out medals for everything didn’t they. They expected everyone to clap and nod and in agreement when that handed out those; Hero of the Soviet People for not pee-ing on the toilet seat, Order of Lenin for walking AND chewing gun, etc. Now we have the Democrats emulating them in our own capitol. Swell…

Any police officer that accepts these rewards are cowards and a disgrace to law enforcement. You would never see such a reward for police officers who actually keep us and our street safe and not just the politicans. To accept these medals is to be a slave the very party that calls for police to be defunded and abolished.

Extra medals and a bag of Cheesy Poofs for all the DC cops that held doors open and waved people in--door prizes so to speak!!! 🤡🌐 Hmm, where are the awards for the officers that got attacked for months outside the federal building in Portland. Surely having fireworks and questionable fluids thrown at you should merit at least a thank you for your servic" "honorable mentio"."

Press use insurrection in a sentence... "Senate Republicans had hoped to pass their tax cut bill on Nov. 30, but there was a last-minute insurrection led by Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn."... That's about the equivalent meaning of the word when used to describe Jan. 6th. Pansies.

Meh, some probably deserve such recognition, but there were quite a few officers who did nothing or actively made the situation worse. Basically, award people based on individual merit.
