Voter registration extended by 48 hours in Virginia following website outage

After a website which was being used by voters in Virginia to register suffered an outage for 6 hours on the final day of registration, a judge announced that voter registration would be extended by 48 hours. He described the website outage as having caused ’tremendous harm’. A cut cable brought the website down, and Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax had also called for an extension of the deadline
