This is a good but largely performative action. The disproportionate occurrence of unjustified killings of people of color at the hands of law enforcement continues despite the mass civil unrest of the last year. There are laws being implemented across the country as we speak that will actively make it harder for American students to learn about events such as Juneteenth and the deep roots of systemic racism in the US. How can we possibly find any solution to these issues when so many refuse to even acknowledge them and actively attempt to silence those that would seek to engage with these ideas? It's going to take more than the implementation of a federal holiday to heal these wounds.

Since it now a federal holiday do you think the race baiters and hate mongers will realize slavery is over and act like contributing citizens or go on with their fallacious accusations of systemic racism, “America is racist”, and false white supremacist boogiemen?

A little late but welcome. We should have had an Emancipation Day long ago. Make progress incrementally, don't burn down the house to make upgrades.
