University of Minnesota hosts webinar to help people ’recover’ from being white

The University of Minnesota recently hosted a webinar series in which white participants are instructed to undergo a 12-step plan in order to ’recover and reclaim our full humanity’. The program is focused on teaching white people about their white supremacy and how to counteract it. Creator of the program, therapist Cristina Combs, says her program has helped people recover from their whiteness.

More divisive “trainings” are exactly what we need to ease racial tensions.

This makes me sick. If this was aimed at any other race it would be “extremely racist”, but because it’s aimed at white people, it’s “okay”? How is this not racial discrimination on the part of the university? University of Minnesota should loose federal funding for violating Title VI of the civil rights act of 1964. Title VI “prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in any program or activity that receives Federal funds or other Federal financial assistance... this prohibition applies to intentional discrimination as well as to procedures, criteria or methods of administration that appear neutral but have a discriminatory effect on individuals because of their race, color, or natural origin”
