Murderer who tackled London Bridge terrorist could be released early

A convicted murderer who helped thwart an attack in London last year by confronting the terrorist with a narwhal tusk will be considered for parole 10 months early, thanks to Queen Elizabeth. Steven Gallant, who was jailed for 17 years in 2005 for the murder of an ex-firefighter, has been granted the royal prerogative of mercy. Gallant’s Parole Board will decide whether he can be released early.

Why was a convicted murderer who still had a few years to go on his sentence in a position where he could freely tackle someone in public.

Why was he given any jail time at all? He should’ve been honored for his actions not imprisoned.

Actually, he is murderer for killing someone in 2005. But he's also a hero for what he did recently, and certainly deserves early release.
