SK Hynix to buy Intel’s NAND flash memory business for $9 billion

South Korea’s SK Hynix, the world’s second-largest chipmaker, has announced that it is buying Intel’s NAND flash memory chip operation for $9 billion. This is seen as an attempt by SK Hynix to strengthen its position against is giant rival Samsung Electronics. The deal is pending the US government’s approval, which SK Hynix and Intel expect close by late next year.
