First transgender athlete to compete at Olympics

First transgender athlete to compete at Olympics

New Zealand’s Laurel Hubbard has become the first ever transgender athlete picked to compete at an Olympics. Officials selected Hubbard for the women’s weightlifting team for Tokyo 2020, after qualifying requirements were recently modified. She competed in men’s events before coming out as transgender in 2013. She will compete in the women’s 87-kg weightlifting category.

This is a 35 year old who changed gender to female, looks like there is an definite unfair advantage in this particular example. My money is on the New Zealand team for gold!

Think we should stick with gender-neutral pronouns with these trans. “It” is the singular, gender-neutral pronoun. Perhaps Olympics could have men’s, women’s, and it’s categories!

I cant wait until one of you woke ashats have a daughter one day, who's free ride to college is stamped out but something like this. When you watched her train her ... off, sacrifice their social life. and endure pain not felt by her peers from injury and recovery. all.the while your pumping out cash for clubs, travel, outfits and all of the anscilarry booster costs. And one day some teenage boy, who identifies as a girl, beats your princess in the 400m dash by a gap'plebees style buffet. Tell her to enjoy community college, and then tell me you support this. Even if you say its fine, you..... you will know in your heart that this is bshij

How many women, transitioning to men are participating in ANY of the mens divisions again? Not just Olympics... at any level. Oh... thats right... none. People have no problem with trans. But they can compete against each other - just as women compete against women, and men compete agains men. There's no reason not to create at least a Transgender division - Men, Women, Transgender - OR to make them feel more accepted, give the community their own Trans Olympics - but to compete, the change has to be complete.

If anyone thinks there's no unfair advantage for men that transition to women, i have one question. How come there are no females transitioning to male breaking men's records, if there's no difference? Why would transgender people only have an advantage coming from one direction?

Sit down and shut up ladies. Liberals know what's best for you. Former teammate Tracey Lambrechs said in an interview last month that many fellow female weightlifters have concerns that are being ignored. “I’ve had female weightlifters come up to me and say ‘This isn’t fair, what can we do?’,” she told broadcaster TVNZ. “Unfortunately there’s nothing we can do because every time we voice [concerns] we get told to be quiet.”

To overcome the arguments about this, can't they just reclassify women's sports as exclusively x-chromo only, and men's sports as y-chromo only. A person who has y-chromosones competes in that class, and not in the other. Speaks nothing of what someone wants to identify as, and reflects the biological differences which many feel are key to competitors being put in the right class. What's wrong with that?

So a guy is breaking woman's records since his doughy body couldn't cut it in realm of men. Well woman/egalitarians you do this to yourself.

I consider myself center-left, but this is complete BS. Feels bad for the female athletes who just want a fair chance to compete.

Since we have such a large proliferation of "transgenderism" why don't they just create their own sports league! I'd love to see the turnout in viewership. Do what you do, I could give a damn! Just stop shoving it down our throats, because try as you will NEVER be a WOMAN or the MAN you were born as ot are posturing to be!

This is bullshit. Still a male.

It seems like she has undergone the proper hormone suppression as per the guidelines set out by the International Olympic Committee, so she now meets the physical standards necessary to compete with other women in the sport. The reason people are mad about this is because they don’t like transgender individuals, not because they have any deep passion for fairness in women’s sports. Recall that we tolerate massive physical advantages and disadvantages in sports in other contexts. Yao Ming, who is 7 feet and 6 inches, was allowed to compete in the NBA despite the average height of NBA players being 6 feet and 7 inches. That is a drastic physical advantage, and yet few in that context would voice any concern.

Just more proof biological males are stronger and faster than biological females. Sorry feminists, men finally ruined your movement…lmao

No one is saying trans people can’t compete. We are just saying they need to compete within their biological group…or are you a science denier?

SHE will be competing with a disadvantage. She will not have the testosterone levels, bone density & other factors she had 8 years ago. No amount of hate & ignorance will change that

Should be disqualified for juicing. Pretty simple. Any female athlete caught with that much testosterone in her system would be disqualified, so why is this person getting special treatment? And if this is ok, then all female athletes should be able to use as much steroids as they want.

Excellent. Let the destruction of women's sports begin. Soon Alt-Men will own all the records and the error will be laid bare for all to see...

In other words, this is the first time in Olympics history that a biological male will be competing against biological females in strength competitions. How misogynistic. Looks like the feminists who embrassed Marxism have finally reaped what they had sown.
