In Canada, minister says cops failing Indigenous people in country’s lobster row

Canada’s Indigenous Services Minister Marc Miller said the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia have failed to protect Indigenous people involved in a dispute over lobster fishing. This follows an incident in which a lobster pound was burned, and police accused a man of assaulting a Mi’kmaq leader. Indigenous fishermen say commercial lobster harvesters harass them and resort to violence.
