Trump administration adds criminal disqualifiers to asylum

President Donald Trump’s administration has announced that asylum-seekers will be disqualified if they are convicted of driving under the influence or committing crimes to support gangs. The new rule, which takes effect from November 20, is the latest in a range of measures the Trump administration has taken to make asylum in the United States harder to obtain.

Why not make "illegal entry" an automatic disqualifier? If caught inside our border, immediately remove them.

So let's get this straight, a person gets kidnapped by a gang and forced to help them, then when he escapes and tries to flee north for protection, he is deemed to not be eligible. Will the trump administration accept such mitigating factors?
