India hands over ’lost’ PLA soldier to China in eastern Ladakh

India has handed over a People’s Liberation Army soldier back to China, who had crossed over to the Indian side at a hotly contested point near the line of actual control (LAC) – the de facto border between the two countries – in eastern Ladakh. India caught the PLA soldier in the Demchok area. The Indian Army said the soldier, who was disoriented, was provided food and medical care.

He was a spy now acting deranged. India could not have kept him under lock given the border tensions and Chinese might.

Doubtful this soldier will live long when returned to his country. He will be viewed as a defector and a possible spy.
