Stampede in Afghanistan during visa application kills 11 and leaves many injured

Visa applications to Pakistan resumed in Afghanistan after a seven-month hold. Reuters reported that the applicants pushed around each other to secure their token. Soon the crowd got out of control, leading to a stampede which led to at least 11 women being killed and many more injured. This is despite the fact that crowd had been redirected to a sports stadium instead of the usual visa centre.
