Mexico reaches deal to pay US water debt despite violent farmer protests

Mexico has reached a deal with the US to settle its water debts despite widespread protests by Mexican farmers. In September, hundreds of Mexican farmers seized a dam in Chihuahua state to stop water being diverted to the US, which led to clashes with Mexico’s security forces resulting in a woman’s death. Mexico is bound by a 1944 treaty to share water sources with the US along their arid border.

I'm pleasantly suprised that Mexico is finally honoring the agreement.
