French startup Ynsect to build world’s biggest bug farm

French startup Ynsect has raised $224M from investors this month to build a second insect farm in Amiens in northern France. The company breeds mealworms that produce proteins for livestock, pet food and fertilizers, and aims to use the funds to build the world’s largest insect farm. Due to open in 2022, it will produce 100K tonnes of insect products while creating 500 jobs.

It will be proposed for human consumption within 10 years, is my bet. The Left will riot and agitate for the abolishment of all meat farming and try to get us to eat bugs instead.

Gross. Makes me think of that scene from the snowpiercer. Bars of protein made from bugs for the poor.

There should be more of a push for insect based food. It just makes good sense, any bias against it is only cultural. This should be changed.

This definitely would be hard, even small scale insect breeding can be rough.
