With Election Day still over a week away, early voting tops 2016 numbers

With 8 days before Election Day, more voters already have cast ballots in this year’s US presidential election than voted early or absentee in the 2016 poll. So far, 58.6 million ballots cast, which is more than the 58 million cast through mail or at in-person early voting sites in 2016. This is seen as a result of voters trying to avoid crowded places on November 3 during the Covid-19 pandemic.
