Off duty officer witnesses shooting, tackles gunman in New York City

A New York City police officer, who was off duty, tackled a man after a deli worker was fatally shot, and has consequently been hailed as a hero and is receiving praise for his quick thinking. The attacker, Steven Cohen, entered the deli and shot the employee, following which Jason Maharaj wrestled the man to the floor and held him until more NYPD officers came.
