Scotland’s new bill on hate crime stirs controversy

Scotland’s parliament will debate a bill that seeks to criminalize hate speech relating to age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity, etc, even if they were spoken in someone’s private home. Opponents say such a law could see JK Rowling facing jail for saying what she thinks about trans rights and comedians for cracking a ’a Scotsman, an Englishman and an Irishman’ joke.

Then look at the specific things that are being censored and how those words impact other humans, those with power and what type of idea are they silencing. Look at what the extremists of those thoughts, the casual culture of superiority over other human experiences. You can see why this is different than a government banning desention in the populace to control instead of supporting the humans they govern. It’s a human thing, learn to see it in others.

Jesus Christ Scotland! That is downright scary! Freedom of speech is meant to protect controversial speech. Without those protections free speech does not exist.

Okay, it is actually still in the planning stage and you are invited to make ammendments up until July next year. So it probably won't even happen at all, but, we do make laws for the society we want to live in. With that in mind. I assume/guess/wonder if it will be a law written specifically about using words as weapons that harm another person or that causes harm to another person and that their would be pre-meditated and meditated decided upon. 🤔 — If the law created was specific like that, would it prevent for example: JK Rawlings, from sharing her opinions on the Transgender conversation? ... Is there not a distinct difference between the two? 🤔 If the law that they are creating in any way silenced the voices of the people out there like JK Rawlings I have to disagree with this wholeheartedly. The question is can a law be written so specifically so that not to be interpreted in any other way than specifically intended 🤔

What are the attributes of "fascism"? Extreme censorship under penalty of jail? Yeah, that's the first thing you'd see.
