Trump rallies linked to 30K COVID-19 cases and over 700 deaths, study finds

As per a new research by Stanford, President Trump’s campaign rallies led to more than 30,000 coronavirus cases. The rallies also likely led to more than 700 deaths, though not necessarily among attendees. Researchers studied 18 Trump rallies held between Jun. 20 and Sep. 22 and analyzed COVID-19 data the weeks following each event. The paper has not undergone a peer review yet.

Something worthwhile noting in the study: B. Douglas Bernheim, chair of the university’s economics department, said that because the rallies are isolated events with a finite beginning and end, they are “cleaner events to study” than protests (such as BLM), which can occur over several days.
