US stocks bounce as Wall Street braces for Election Day

Equity markets started Monday with gains as investors prepared for Tuesday’s contentious presidential election and a Federal Reserve meeting. Futures on the S&P 500 climbed 1% following last week’s sharp selloff, while futures on the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 were up roughly 1.2%. Oil prices, however, took a hit Monday as the new lockdowns fueled concerns about demand for energy falling further.
