GOP state legislature candidate who died of Covid wins election
A candidate for North Dakota’s state legislature who died of COVID-19 last month has won the election for his district on Tuesday. David Andahl was diagnosed with Covid-19 and hospitalized for treatment, after which he passed away on 5 October. Andahl and another GOP candidate, Dave Nehring, won the two seats from North Dakota’s eighth district. Andahl took around 36% of the vote.

Wouldn’t be the first time. Republican Senator John Ashcroft ran for reelection to a second term, but was defeated by Democratic Governor Mel Carnahan, despite Carnahan's death in a plane crash three weeks before election day.
