After proposition 22 passed by California voters, Uber, Lyft shares soar

Proposition 22 has been approved by California voters on Tuesday evening which means Uber Technologies Inc., Lyft Inc., and DoorDash Inc. have won their quest to keep their drivers classified as independent contractors. Gig-economy companies no longer need to classify their workers as employees as they are exempt from a state law due to the proposition.

The Democrats are owned by the unions. Despite the people saying "We don't want this!", they passed a law to block companies from doing business that hurt their union donors. So the people flipped them the bird.

I'm not surprised, every Uber driver I've asked about this said it was a bad idea. Each one telling me that Uber was their side hussle that let them set their own hours. On a side note, I hope this vote extends to the other types of gig workers in California. Side hussle can be good ways to make ends meet.
