US jobless claims hit 751,000 last week, slightly less than expectation

The number of first-time claimers of unemployment benefits in the US fell to the lowest level in the pandemic to 751,000 last week. Although this was a decline for the second straight week and fell below the expected 778,000-mark, it was still very high as new Covid-19 cases rising in record numbers again. Experts say the figure can easily go up as states and cities impose new curbs on businesses.
