Trump won 93% of the, mostly rural, counties with worst virus surges
The US Presidential election has showed that counties with the worst surges of COVID-19 support Trump with the US President winning the overwhelming majority of them. 93% of the 376 counties with highest number of new cases per capita voted for Trump according to an analysis by the Associated Press. Most were rural counties in Montana, the Dakotas, Iowa and Wisconsin

They seem to be trying to make a connection, yet it makes little sense. Perhaps these areas merely have a different perception of the virus and Trump, and thus the scale of infection has no bearing.
