UAE decriminalizes alcohol, overhauls laws to bolster women’s rights

In a bid to attract foreign investment and tourism, the United Arab Emirates moved to overhaul some of its strictest Islamic laws and bolster women’s rights. The changes will allow unmarried couples to live together and decriminalize the sale and consumption of alcohol. The changes will be brought into effect immediately, and also introduce tougher penalties for sexual harassment.

Maybe as the West moves towards "woke" culture, the Middle East will move towards Enlightenment culture. Then, we'll be the crazies and they'll be the sane ones. I think it's already moving in that direction.

Good news, but if women's rights are now on the agenda perhaps the ruling family should address their abhorrent treatment of the Princesses, and maybe let everyone know where Princess Latifa is after she was kidnapped from a boat and sent back to the UAE 2 years ago?
