Zoom to settle with FTC over deceptive security claims, further enhance security

As part of a new proposed settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over its privacy practices, the company must establish an information security program and share security audits with the agency. Zoom made deceptive claims about its security earlier in the year when its popularity soared because of the pandemic. It has since addressed many of the flaws but has agreed to do more.

In my country UAE, the only VOIP apps you can use are ones that the government can listen in to. Any app that upgrades its security like Skype or WhatsApp gets banned. Zoom is one of the few apps that is allowed here for that reason, so I hope they don't make it too secure. I depend on it to talk to my family in Europe. If you want security there are many alternatives.
