Cal Cunningham, the North Carolina Senate candidate conceded to incumbent Senator Thom Tillis, in the state’s Senate race. The Associated Press reported that Tillis led Cunningham by over 95,000 votes. Tillis also reported that he had spoken with Cunningham over the phone, and said ’This was a hard-fought campaign and I wish nothing but the best to Cal and his family going forward.’
With that the Republicans are guaranteed a minimum of 50 Senate seats (assuming they win the Alaska Senate race which they should). The Democrats would need to win BOTH Florida runoffs in January and then use Harris as a tie breaking vote. This, combined with a very close House, will HOPEFULLY lead to more interest in bipartisanship. I doubt it will but I can hope. Otherwise it will just be more gridlock.
