6,000 jobs to be created under plans for 16 mini-nuclear power stations in UK

A group led by Rolls-Royce has pledged to create 6,000 regional UK jobs within the next five years alongside plans to build 16 mini nuclear power stations. The group said the jobs would help support the government’s ’leveling up’ agenda. This could also be a positive for engine maker Rolls-Royce, which is slashing 9,000 jobs to offset the hit from COVID-19, around two-thirds of them in the UK.

Last thing we ever need is nuclear power. Coal stations are visibly dirty. Nuclear has the hidden dirty element of some of its radioactive waste is so dangerous its half life is in thousands of years and each year more is buried often in deep water facilities as an indefinite storage that grows year on year. More nuclear power plants will also increase by their number the risk of accidental leaks howsoever caused. Still current thinking is to leave it to our grandchildren, great granchildren, great great granchildren, ad infinitum; to sort out always assuming that we haven't perished with a spate of major leaks during the next thousand years. We have Chernobyl and Fukushima for our base model. In this last decade the concrete they poured over the Chernobyl accident site was decaying and leaking , so it was replaced with bigger concrete building that the experts hope this time it will last a hundred years rather than a few tens. How long is the half-life? Oh yes thousands of years!!!
