709,000 new unemployment claims filed in the US amid COVID-19 spike
The feds reported on Thursday that with the labor market continuing to post a slow recovery which is further threatened by a dangerous new wave of coronavirus infections, as many as 709,000 Americans applied for unemployment benefits last week. This brings the number filed during the COVID-19 pandemic to a seasonally adjusted total of more than 67.4 million.

I don’t get it, wasn’t it supposed ti go away several months ago? Wasn’t it just all a hoax? Why are people dying and othera getting unemployed? I thought it was dive cases and than soon no cases at all?
