Italy, which was the first country after China to be overwhelmed by the novel coronavirus, recently surpassed 1 million cases of COVID-19. As a fresh surge of coronavirus cases threatens to overwhelm the nation once again, hospitals are nearing their breaking point. The surge in cases has also led to renewed calls for a lockdown from some sections of the population, in order to control the spread.
We watched what happened in Italy last time and our incompetent administration pretended like it couldn't happen here. The same appears to be happening again. Strange how a virus doesn't go away once people get tired of it.
