Microsoft says Russian, North Korean hackers targeting Covid-19 vaccine makers

Microsoft said its security researchers have found that Russian and North Korean hackers have started cyberattack campaigns against pharmaceutical companies and Covid-19 vaccine researchers around the world. Microsoft didn’t disclose which vaccine researchers had been targeted but noted that they included research organizations running vaccine trials and one that has developed a Covid-19 test.

And? You use the tools you have. NK hasn't got the huge pharmaceutical industry, but it does have hackers. The beauty of hacking is you really don't need much tech to still pwn a large company. You do need skill and determination. It's a great equaliser in many respects.

What is the intention of the hack? Simply stealing vaccine data or something more sinister such as tampering?

Of course they are, they are not free countries!! Only free western countries develop all our technologies including medicine. Anything to restrain these countries from succeeding is their goal

It is funny how foreign entities always make cutesy names to American's for their nefarious activities. And wouldn't you think N.Korean and Russian hackers would make their hacks look like American college kids or something?

I see people here wonder why NK would be interested in it and I think a reason might be that if you produce and sell it, that’s worth a lot especially if the vaccine is in high demand and not as readily available

A more interesting question is, "why is this research not being shared freely and openly?" Globalisation when it suits them, and everyone for themselves the rest of time. Western CEO's should b on trial for amorality.
