Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer took legal action Friday to shut down a pipeline that carries oil beneath a channel linking two of the Great Lakes. Whitmer’s office notified Canadian company Enbridge Inc. that it was revoking an easement granted 67 years ago citing repeated violations of the terms of the easement. The revocation takes effect in 180 days.
Enbridge lied to the people of Michigan. It covered up years of leaks and other problems with the Line 5 pipeline, contaminating Lakes Michigan, Huron, and Superior over several decades. Pipelines never should be located anywhere near a water table, let alone under a body of water. Hopefully, this will serve as precedent and an example for other states to protect our fresh waters.
Well if you repaetedly violate the terms you are obviously expected to carry on as usual because anything else would be socialism destroying our economy.
Gretchen is the most anti business governor we have ever had and she has bungled everything since being elected
