Sweden limits public gatherings to eight people to fight COVID-19

In an effort to curtail the spread of COVID-19 amid a rise in daily cases, the Swedish government on Monday moved to cut the size of public gatherings sharply. Public gatherings will now be limited to eight people, PM Stefan Lofven said, down from a previous upper limit of 300. ’Don’t go to gyms, don’t go to libraries, don’t host dinners,’ he added. The new limit would be in place for four weeks.

That’s only partly correct. Yes, there is a limit at eight persons attending public events. This doesn’t affect the public space though. You could walk through a cramped mall without barely anyone wearing masks only to not be let into one of the venues because there are eight people inside.
