UN warns of humanitarian crisis as Ethiopia ups offensive against Tigray rebels

UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi warned that if fighting between federal Ethiopian forces and rebels in the country’s Tigray region doesn’t stop, it would spell into a humanitarian disaster. Meanwhile, Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said the military operation in the northern Tigray region is entering its ’final phase’ as the surrender deadline given to the rebels has lapsed.
