The Senate blocked the nomination of Judy Shelton, President Donald Trump’s pick for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Shelton’s nomination failed by a vote of 47 to 50, with two Republicans joining Democrats to stall her nomination to the central bank as the end of the president’s term nears. Shelton, an informal Trump advisor, once equated the Fed to the Soviet Union’s economic planning.
