Thousands of protesters marched in Taipei Sunday for Taiwan’s annual ’Autumn Struggle’ demonstrations, with much of the anger focused on the government’s decision to ease restrictions on imports of pork containing ractopamine from the U.S. The additive enhances leanness in the meat but is banned in the EU, China due to concerns about safety for animals and humans.
They do not want to eat meat that passes US standards, and the meat sent to them is probably on the low end. The can grow plenty of quality, fatty pork themselves. Importing meat from around the world is a bad practice anyways. Disease and globalism, go go go!
