Qantas to make COVID-19 vaccination compulsory for international travel: CEO

Qantas Airway will make vaccination against COVID-19 compulsory for international air travel, CEO Alan Joyce said in an interview. Travelers within Australia, he added, would be exempted from such a requirement. Joyce also said that the airline is also determining whether it is necessary to impose a two-week quarantine on travelers arriving in Australia.

I gather Qantas has assumed the role of the Australian government's health ministry.

Our Health Minister Jens Spahn said "I Promise you, there won't be any mandatory vaccine from the government." Guess he conveniently leftout the part where individual corporations can mandate that for daily life, hence making government promise an empty shell - to fill it with mandates from corporations. And these corporates get their advices from whom? That's right - the GOVERNMENT!

As a Australian pilot, this guy is one of the most hated CEO's in the industry. Not even Australian - Irish like Ryan Air boss and the same tactics. During his tenure, we've see his salary go up and pilot salaries go down. He's nothing but a bully. Treats customers the way he treats his staff... Like an unavoidable bad taste.

Just you watch. This'll be the first of many. Vaccines should not be compulsory, end of story. I was hoping airlines would opt to allow passengers with a certified negative covid test. That would be reasonable*. And what's this about quarantines as well? The hysteria is next level.

First example of the government saying it ain't so but forcing buisness the do so. That way they can stay out of the spotlight when imposing others to do so. Why have a police officer when you have "loyal" citizens ratting out their fellow man

Reminder, the covid tests we are taking can and will detect other coronaviruses including the common cold and flu yet report a positive test.

CEO must be ready to retire, minus his stock options. That airline is about to go belly up.

Very good move! Capitalism at its best; anticipating market movements ans acting accordingly. They are doing the inevitable before everyone else and now they'll be the first. Good marketing.

A bit of topic here. Regarding the pending vaccine and people's reluctance to take it. For all you Google genius who pretend they are intelligent by copying an pasting information. You seem to have missed this? Fears of the vaccine are well founded. More than 60 years ago pregnant women were prescribed the drug Thalidomide. It was used to reduce the effects of morning sickness. It was also used for other uses as well. A drug approved by government health officials as being safe. That wasn't the case it caused sever birth defects and deaths in the infants who's mother took the drug. So concerns about the COVID-19 vaccine that has been rushed for approval are legitimate.😝🤣😂🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
