Pandemic significantly impacts seafood trade and consumption

The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted US seafood industry owing to a steep decline in imports and exports and a decline in catch of some species. It has also got impacted partially because of its dependence on restaurant sales. Demand for seafood from restaurants dropped by over 70% initially. Imports fell about 37% and exports about 43% over the first nine months of the year compared to 2019.
