Dianne Feinstein steps down as top Democrat after Lindsey Graham hug

Dianne Feinstein, 87, is to step down as top California senator and top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee after anger over Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett SCOTUS confirmations and Lindsey Graham COVID hugging controversy giving up the powerful spot after public criticism of her bipartisan outreach and her handling of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation hearings.

While I am no fan of Feinstein, it is most troubling that even the smallest acts of symbolic bipartisanship are now met with heavy criticism. America has been heavily divided for over 20 years now...we could use more centrists.

Get rid of this fossil and implement a maximum age for House, Senate, and Presidential candidates, for the love of humanity and the future. These people are all the worst 🙄

The power LG wields is impressive. His very presence around Dems causes hysteria from the groups that the Dems "represent".

“A photograph of the California Democrat hugging the committee’s Republican chairman, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, after Justice Barrett’s nomination was approved ricocheted across the internet, drawing condemnation from liberal groups.”.... Don’t you dare work in a bi-partisan fashion with those evil, mean, nasty, no-good, very-bad Republicans!!! How dare you be tolerant, we’ll show you! I love it when leftists eat their own.

Good. It's time for some new blood. Feinstein is an entrenched political elite and too cozy with lobbyists.

What kind of party do we have where you can't give a colleague a hug? Maybe the democrats need to take a hard look at which base they are supporting.

Regardless she’s had a good run, she needs to end it while she can still remember some of it.

She has been in office for 50 years. She can step down today.
