To curb protests, Thailand revives harsh law banning defamation of king

In an attempt to curb months of anti-government protests, Thailand has revived a controversial law – lèse-majesté, which bans criticizing the monarchy. Several activists have been summoned to face charges under the draconian law, which carries a sentence of up to 15 years in prison for each count. Protesters are demanding changes in the monarchy, constitution and removal of the prime minister.
