OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma pleaded guilty Tuesday to three criminal charges, formally taking responsibility for its part in an opioid epidemic. Purdue acknowledged that it had not maintained an effective program to prevent prescription drugs from being diverted to the black market. It also admitted paying doctors to induce them to write more prescriptions for its painkillers.
Sorry about not reading the article, but I bet sight unseen: such a deal, Purdue made a hefty profit. Boy! The price of doing business is pretty good these days!
and they only have to pay a fine that equates to a small fraction of the profits made. not a bad deal.
@Forsaken That is exactly the way it should be looked at!!
Remember kids, these pharma companies are the same ones that are developing your covid vaccine. Completly ethical people here.
No prison time so far, for the drug dealing company
I hope they understand the magnitude of what they did.
Only after they had no other choice
Why does this posting have pictures of SCOTUS Associate Justices Thomas and Barrett? They are totally unrelated to the posting.
Great news
Yay, but I doubt they'll be forced to provide withdrawal aids or meds for free to those they got hooked.
