Girl dies of COVID-19 complications at age of 14

A Michigan girl who was put in handcuffs by officers when she was 11 years has died of COVID-19 complications. Honestie Hodges, 14, tested positive for the Covid-19 on Nov. 9 and was taken to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. A spokesperson for Spectrum Health System, which includes Helen Devos Children’s Hospital, said Honestie’s condition termed as critical since Sunday morning.

They're not related... why make this about race and police if it literally has 0 to do with why this girl died of covid.... oh right, it's the narrative today.. silly me The heck outta here with that bs

A run in with the police years ago has absolutely nothing to do with her Covid death! Clearly the media is desperate to add fuel to the race fire! How sad!

Her grandmother is incorrect; the girl must have had a weakened immune system, asthma, or some other underlying issue to have died from the coof coof at age 14.

For those wondering: the handcuffs years ago are only relevant because it was a previous new story at the time of the incident. For example, ifanother story said a famous actor dies of covid, you might ask how is the acting career relevant? But we know some people might obviously be familiar with the actor from their past. This is a similar instance happening here.

I feel for everyone who has lost their life to covid, but it’s different when it’s a child. I hope she’s resting peacefully

A lot of commentators here are disgusting, this child passed away. They only brought up the previous incident because it was recognizable. No she didn’t need an underlying condition. A friend of mine nearly died of COVID and he had no underlying conditions. Didn’t smoke or drink, and worked out regularly. He lives on oxygen now. Educate yourselves before you speak badly about a people. And don’t ever speak badly on child, especially one who’s passed away. Have some compassion and some heart! This kind of behavior is absolutely disgusting!

When an article is linked, does one have the ability to change the associated headline text or does it link exactly as the author typed it? 🤔 When I open the NYT article, it reads something completely different than what’s there now. The title is misleading and has a negative connotation but what happened to Honestie changed Grand Rapids’ policy on how they handle youth (even tho it took some time for the changes to catch on). Still, I hate that they mentioned her being handcuffed as if it’s related to her death. 🤦🏽‍♀️

The articles are definitely reaching on this one.

Gotta make it racial and Covid... A 2'fer and bonus points for the media!

Why does the handcuffing event from three years ago, serve to start the story? It’s irrelevant information.

This is not news! This is about fear mongering. This is what a pawn looks like.

Obviously what's important here isn't a girl dying. It's race politics.
