Foxconn is planning to shift the production of iPads and Macs to Vietnam, at the request of Apple. The move is intended to minimize the impact of a Sino-U.S. trade war, according to officials. The transition in production comes as the outgoing administration of U.S. President Donald Trump encourages U.S. firms to shift production out of China.
Great! Japan and Germany are doing the same with some of their companies, the japanese government is even aiding financially to their pharmaceutical corporations to move out of China, let's hope the US and other countries follow. As weird as India might seem as a country, it is an ally along some southeast asian countries, they could also benefit from bilateral agreements on production too.
So if Trump lost the election, as the MSM claim, why move anything now? I thought Biden and Xi Jinpeng were tight? Perhaps we aren’t getting the whole picture from the corporate media 🤔?
Simple solution... A federal law that mandates all products sold in the USA meet the same quality, environmental protection and labor laws as a US employer would be required to meet.... Then lower our standards and regulations to a practical level.
Why move to Vietnam? There are plenty of children in America who can build them!
It doesn't matter where they're made. They're still way overpriced crapple products.
They must have better suicide nets there too
Biden will undo any of our progress to detach from china.
The over reliance on chaina is extremely off. About time to make changes. But is it the right country !?
Hey Wisconsin, thanks for all the tax credits. How's that working out?
Really don't understand what the sudden issue with China is. That's capitilism and the world over has enjoyed, cheap Chinese labor. Capitilism and Billionaires preach nationalism but in reality the majority of them have tried to get a foot hold in China. They now nationalism is only useful in keeping the masses distracted.
Still communist, but it's a good start, at least.
Surprising
That would be ANOTHER Trump failure. Bigly winning!!
I remember lots of controversy regading worker's conditions in FoxConn: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxconn_suicides China GDP per capita was above usd 10,000 in 2019: https://www.macrotrends.net/countries/CHN/china/gdp-per-capita At the same time Vietnam has it at usd 2,700 in 2019: https://www.macrotrends.net/countries/VNM/vietnam/gdp-per-capita So, it is simply business. Nothing more, nothing less. Do you think working conditions (such as duration of work day) in Vietnam will be better than those in China, or worse?
