In Japan, suicide rates rise as coronavirus impact hits hard

Japan is struggling with a mental health crisis as the COVID-19 pandemic rages on. As per the National Police Agency, 2,153 suicides were recorded in October alone, taking the number of people taking their own lives to more than 17,000 this year to date. Experts attribute the rise in suicides to prolonged lockdowns, isolation from family, unemployment, and a lack of school structure.

So confused. One source says they had lockdowns, the other says they did not. Can the media do their research and get the detail accurate, for the love of God.

Also remember that Japan already had very high suicide rates making this even worse. They even have a place called “suicide forest”.
