Release for Charles Manson follower Leslie Van Houten blocked by Governor Newsom
Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California reversed parole for Leslie Van Houten, a follower of Charles Manson. This is the fourth time a governor has blocked her release. Houten, who is now 71 years old, was the youngest member of Manson’s murderous cult. She has spent nearly five decades in prison, and a California panel had recommended parole in July.

Honestly, she looks to be pretty healthy for 71, especially one who’s spent over 2/3rds of her life in jail. I’m curious what evidence Newsome has that she is still a danger to society. Since the parole committee has approved it three times prior, what evidence does he have that they don’t? Genuinely curious. This could lead to a lawsuit in the future.
